  1. How 'lightweight' is this? As you know, summer in California is dreadful and I'd prefer something lightweight to carry my Cub in.

  2. its made from cotton so it is very breathable. I live in CA and have also lived in the deep south and have never personally had issues with it being too hot. When the hood is being used my wee one will sometimes sweat a little but not uncomfortably so. I have never had issues with it feeling too hot and my children who have been worn in one have never shown any type of uncomfortability from heat.

  3. Would an average sized adult need the XL straps in order to do the Lexi twist and tie in back?

  4. an average female yes- an average male no. If you are still in question if you let me know the size of the wearer I can let you know what length would work =)

  5. I am 5'9", 160 lbs and wear a size 8. I have long torso and fairly broad shoulders but I am not too busty:)

  6. the standard would be fine for you. If you were quite busty then I would have suggested the longer straps.

  7. How old is the "average" baby when he can do a front carry with legs out?

  8. on average is 5-6months. And mostly this is due to the width of the MT vs the width of the baby's hip spread. So 2 tricks of the trade: 1) take a pony-tail holder (scrunchi, etc) and pull your MT through it until it is encircling the body of the MT. This will cinch the width without compromising the comfortability. Also depending on how tall your baby is you may need to roll the bottom of the MT waist in 1 or 2 times to shorten the rise. If you have any other ??? just ask =)

  9. OH and I FORGOT TO MENTION!!! always have their hips turned up so they are "bucket sitting" not "hanging" from the carrier whenever they are forward facing. This is true for wraps as well =)

  12. Can you tell me what print is the most popular for carrying a little boy? Also, are these comfortable for a two mth old who still not good with head control?

  13. Prints: Every MT I make is one of a kind- I haven't made a duplicate yet =) I think prints really have to do with the person buying and what their tastes are. The most popular ingeneral seem to be anything with paisley, the circle prints, camo prints, and the fruits and stripes. I am stocking some new ones tonight so come take a look!
Head Support: Because you can custom fit the head support you can get the most secure fit out of any Mei-Tai carrier. I will have newborn-3 months MT wearing on video by the end of this week. You will be able to see that the head support is awesome and really cradles and supports little baby crowns =)

  15. I can get it to you right quick! You can either pick from the existing MT's that are on my hyena cart (click the BUY ME link on the blog on the right hand side) Or if you want me to do a custom you just need to get the fabric to me. =)Minda

  16. If I don't win...and I hope I do...I'd like to get one...my husband LOVED them when I showed him your videos. If we wanted to do custom...it says you need 1/2 yard of fabric for each side...but what kind of fabric, exactly?

    Thanks, Peacebug

  17. You can use any kind because there is the inside stabilzer piece that everything is sewn onto. I personally like the look of the home decor fabrics because everything is a bottom weight. Also they just look sharper to me. Regular cotton is fine though if you see something you really like. Silks are fine too. Like I said anything that you like will work since the outsdie is just for looking pretty =)
I am glad you and your husband like the design of the videos. I will have some more coming soon =)

  18. Is "home decor" a brand name? It says that you need a yard if the fabric is "vertically dimensional"...what does that mean? We're going fabric shopping today. We are very excited about GloryBaby!

  20. I have Echino Scene fabric in Latte and Echino Bird and Berry Turquoise. Is the Bird and Berry fabric considered vertical dimensional? I only bought 1/2 yard of each and hope that is enough.

  21. I just checked it online. It is directional however the fabric comes from a wider bolt than many regular cottons so it should be just fine =) If you want to make sure- lay the fabric out just as you would want to see it and measure from the top to the bottom- and let me know what that measurement is. Thanks =)

  22. what are your straps made of?

    ReplyDelete
  23. straps are made out of bottom weight fabric- like twill

  24. is it still possible to get in on the custom slot? Is it $75 plus the fabric that I send you?

    ReplyDelete
  25. yes you can still order a custom- go to the "buy here" tab on my blog home page and it will bring you to my hyena cart where you can follow the directions on the "custom" link.
You can either pick fabric from my fabric bin or send in your own. The picture on my blog, I just posted, are all my current fabrics (this picture is not on my hyenacart yet. If you have any other questions just ask =)

  26. The previous anonymous post was me. I hadn't seen your response because I had to have emergency surgery. I see your about to go on maternity leave. I know its just a few days later but are you still taking custom orders? Or when is your cut off? Being off work right now I wouldn't be ready to buy for a couple of weeks. my email is jhjelle4168@gmail.com if you prefer to talk that way. Thanks :) Jodi

  27. I just saw your carriers on "the sling Directory" site as well as the TBW site. I am wondering if you have any made up for boys. Nothing floral or to flowery looking. I am good with strips and solids. I did like the 13 and 14 fabrics in your bin as well.
I want to get one ASAP.

I am 5 ft tall, 165 lbs, bust is 38-40 FULL D (not quite a DD cup) and my waist is 41 inches. I have a short torso as well. i wear 12-14 size in clothes. So I don't know what strap length I would need. Please let me know if you are able to help me. I know you are going on maternity leave as well.

My son is 6 months old and already weighs 24 lbs! And wearing 9-12 month clothing. With my older son and al the field trips and parks we go to, I want to be able to carry him without my back, shoulders and waist killing me!

Or if you can't, please give me some advice on where and what site and carrier I can use. I am VERY new at this baby wearing trend! With my son being so heavy, I need all the advice I can get!

My e-mail address is janetta.ellis2@gmail.com if you can help me. Congrats to you and your family on the new baby! Thanks, Janetta

  29. Hi Minda,
I met you at the STAR Writing test earlier this year. Remember we just moved to this area from Santa Cruz? We have 7 too.
Anyhow, I found your blog by accident while looking up stuff on ATI! We just got back from our first ATI conference in Sac and are considering the curriculum for next school year. I saw you were looking into it a few years ago. Did you ever find answers to your questions? You can email me at carpentershomeschool@yahoo.com
    Blessings, Shannon
